The tax law changed at the end of 2018 when it came to alimony. Many people seem to be a little confused about how exactly that’s supposed to work. I had a case that came in my door just the other day where she thought because they changed the law and said alimony was not taxable income. She hadn’t been reporting it for the last two years, almost three, and in that case, she was getting hit with a lot of love letters from the Internal Revenue Service.
